Our Menus

The Laughing Seed invites you to experience our winter menu. We are excited about several seasonal entrees that are warm and comforting – perfect for the cooler months. We continue to broaden our culinary scope to include even more of our favorite flavors from around the world and to utilize the seasonal organic vegetables coming to us from various regional growers. We are pleased to feature other fantastic local products as well, including cheeses from Three Graces Dairy, bread from Annie’s Bakery, tempeh from Smiling Hara, mustard from Lusty Monk, kombucha by Buchi, and a variety of ales from Green Man, to name just a few. Of course, many of our finest menu items are housemade. We’re now even baking our burger buns, focaccia, pita, and specialty breads in house. We also make our own amazing vegan cinnamon rolls for brunch!

Global fusion is very much alive at the Laughing Seed. Dine with us, and you can experience the fresh, complex tastes of Thailand, as well as the simple, but intensely satisfying, flavors of the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Sunflower seed pesto and cashew nut ricotta form a deliciously satisfying filling for our raw Spinach Pesto Manicotti. Our sushi offering changes nightly, as do our pasta specials and authentic Indian thali plates. And nothing comforts like our classic Harmony Bowl, Tempeh Reuben, or Tico Burrito. In addition to preserving our guest favorites, we’ve added several new dishes to our winter menu. The Seitan Wellington, the Laughing Noodle Pho, the Pumpkin Risotto, and the Harvest Salad are sure to quickly become your new craving items.

Our new dessert menu is light, but decadently delicious, featuring several gluten free and vegan options created by pastry chef, Rose. Don’t miss our Coconut Creme Brulee, our gluten-free Carrot Cake, or our Chocolate Porter Float, featuring Asheville’s own Green Man Porter. With housemade ice creams and sorbets that change weekly and new special desserts, there is bound to be something on the menu to satisfy your sweet tooth!

With a menu that includes vegan, raw, and gluten-free options, all healthful, freshly prepared, and delicious, there is truly something for everyone at Laughing Seed! Laughing Seed Salad $11 (V, GF)
Romaine lettuce, spring mix, grated carrots and red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, red bell peppers, cucumbers, red onion, fresh corn, blanched broccoli, mung bean sprouts and clover sprouts, topped with sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Mediterranean Salad $12 (V option, GF option)
Romaine lettuce and organic spring mix tossed in Greek Feta dressing with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and red bell peppers. Topped with cubes of sheep and goat feta cheese and served with house-made whole-wheat pita. Our vegan version is made with grilled marinated tofu.

Tico Taco Salad $13 (GF, V option)
A bed of organic mixed greens topped with black beans, shredded Jack cheese, our grilled spiced crumbled Tico tofu, salsa, brown rice, guacamole. cherry tomatoes, red onion, and fresh jalapenos. Served with organic blue corn chips.

Harvest Salad $12 (GF, V option)
A bed of arugula topped with roasted garlic beets and roasted butternut squash, goat cheese, pistachios, and dried cranberries, tossed with chipotle-cranberry vinaigrette.

Asian Fusion $12 (V)
Organic whole wheat udon noodles tossed in sweet chili-peanut sauce and served over a salad of mixed greens, grated carrots, red cabbage, blanched broccoli, and daikon radish, topped with organic pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

A creamy Indian-inspired filling of potato, yams, scallions, roasted red peppers, and cheese, flavored with curry and layered with spinach and our classic mole sauce. Topped with red salsa and Monterey Jack cheese and served with black beans and a tossed salad.

Low Country Rollups $12 (V option)
Sweet and tangy tofu barbecue wrapped in whole-wheat tortillas, baked with Monterey Jack cheese, and topped with tahini-mustard sauce. Served with brown rice and southern slaw.

Indian Thali Plate $13 (V option, GF option)
Our Indian combination plate changes daily but always features a vegetable curry, dal, aromatic white basmati rice, salad, chutney, organic yogurt, naan, and papadam.

Seitan Wellington $15 (V option)
Cremini mushrooms, Yukon gold potatoes, onion, celery, carrot, garlic, and herbs baked in a flaky housemade pastry and garnished with faux vegan demi-glace, Maytag bleu cheese and local micro greens.
